Mission Statement Editor

A personal mission statement is a kind of guide or vision that a person has developed for himself. It expresses how you want to be in this world, what contribution you want to make in this world, what you want to do in this world, and the principles on which your life and actions in this world should be based. These things do not come from outside. So it is not about how you want to be or how you should be, but these things come from within you. It is about sensing, interpreting and holding on to your inner voice or purpose.

A personal mission statement serves as a guide and helps to make decisions and set priorities. It can also serve as motivation and help lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. A personal mission statement is individual and can vary depending on a person’s personal values and goals. Therefore, each mission statement is unique and right the way it is. Especially in difficult times it helps you to stay on track as well as to get closer to your visions and to reach your goals.

The mission statement editor supports you step by step in developing your mission statement and putting it into words. Usually, a mission statement develops over weeks and months. Therefore, take the time to develop your personal mission statement. With the help of your mission statement, you can later derive your long-term goals.

Roles Editor

Life roles are the various social functions and responsibilities that a person assumes throughout his or her life. These roles can relate to different areas of life, such as being a parent, partner, son, daughter, teacher, coach, author, developer, artist, companion, protector, boss, neighbor, friend, co-worker, student, or citizen. Each role has its own expectations, tasks, and obligations imposed by society, family, or community. Fulfilling these roles can lead to a sense of identity and belonging, but it can also lead to stress and conflict when the different roles come into conflict with each other.

The roles editor of the Self-Manager app helps you keep track of the roles you take on in life and be clear about your relationships with others and your responsibilities.

If you have more than 7 roles, you should try to combine some roles.

After you have captured your roles, you can move on to your goals. You don’t have to fill in each role field perfectly right away, you can add to it later.

TIP: You can use one of the roles for simple „to-do“ lists.

Goals Editor

Goals are their desired states or outcomes that you want to achieve. They serve as guidelines and landmarks to measure progress and success in their various areas of life. Goals can be short term or long term and can be set in different roles. After identifying your roles, consider your short- and long-term goals in those roles. Look again at your mission statement and derive your first 3 long-term goals from it.

It is advisable to record at least the following for each goal:

  • What is my goal?
  • Why is this my goal?
  • How do I want to achieve the goal? Keep asking yourself the question „How?“ and become more specific in your answers. Ideally, you can then derive your tasks from your answers to the „How?“ questions.
    • What steps do you need to implement?
    • In what chronological order should the steps be implemented?
    • What skills and knowledge are required to achieve the goal?
    • When do I want to have achieved the goal?

Your goals will help create motivation and focus, and enable you to effectively use your resources and efforts to achieve your desired results.

Tasks

Tasks help you keep track of what you need to do to achieve a goal. A distinction is made between one-time tasks and recurring tasks or task series as well as tasks lasting several days:

  • One-time tasks are specific requirements or activities that must be fulfilled or performed. They can occur in various areas, such as school, work, or everyday life.

  • Recurring tasks or task series are tasks that need to be repeated regularly or at certain intervals. They may occur daily, weekly, monthly, annually, or at other specified intervals. Examples of recurring tasks include regularly meeting with friends for an activity, meeting again at clubs, paying bills, performing maintenance, or writing reports. Examples of annual recurring tasks are birthdays or paying bills.

Using the Daily Planner and Weekly Planner in the Self-Manager app, you have the option to edit a task series or an individual task within the series. If a series item of a task series is edited, this affects all future tasks of a series. Only task series with the status „open“ are displayed in the daily planner and weekly planner. If a single task of a series is edited, this has no effect on the other tasks of the series.

  • Multi-day tasks are tasks that cannot be completed within one day, but must be worked on over a longer period of time. Examples of multi-day tasks may include preparing a presentation, completing a project, or writing a comprehensive report. However, seminars and trainings can also be scheduled as multi-day tasks.

You can mark tasks as completed with just a few clicks using the status icon. In the daily schedule, swiping a one-time task to the left opens a side menu to move a one-time task forward or backward a day with another click.
